Homemade Granola Recipe
Having granola for breakfast is practical and can save some precious time. A granola bar can be a helpful snack too. Great news, though granola may require a handful of ingredients, you can make it yourself.
Oats
Whole grain oats keep their shape during baking. You can use gluten-free oats if you need gluten-free granola.
Chopped nuts or seeds
There are many options to flavor your granola: walnuts, almonds, cashews, peanuts, pistachios, pecans, green pumpkin seeds, and sunflower seeds.
Salt can make your granola flavourful. You can add cinnamon too.
You can use melted unrefined coconut oil or extra-virgin olive oil. If you’re into natural sweeteners, honey works great, and so is maple syrup.
For fruity flavor dried cranberries, raisins, chopped dried bananas, or apricots can help. Chocolate chips preferably must be added when the granola has completely cooled, otherwise they'll melt.
Preparation
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine oats with chopped nuts and seeds.
2. Add cinnamon and salt
3. In another smaller bowl, mix melted coconut oil with honey (or maple syrup).
4. Combine it with oats
5. Bake for 10-12min at 356°F (180°C)
6. Let it cool and add mixed dried fruit and chopped dark chocolate.
7. Enjoy!
Serve with Greek yogurt and fresh fruit.
